DESCRIPTION:
This Setar has an interesting history in chest! 
The reason for the difference in the shape of the Setar Ketabi (or Abaii) compared to the original shape of the Setar must be searched for in the historical background of this instrument.
The use of this instrument is related to a period in the history of music when due to restrictions and limitations for musicians, even carrying an instrument was difficult and risky (Safavids and Qajar Dynasty), and musicians were inevitably had no choice to carry their instruments secretly under their robe (Abaa). This is why this type of Setar is called “Ketabi” (book-like) or “Zir Abaii” (under robe). In later times, as musical restrictions became less stringent, the original style of Setar became more common, and although Setar Ketabi was used less frequently, it did not completely disappear.

ABOUT THIS SETAR:
This Setar is made from old Mulberry (bowl and sound board), while the fret board is made from high quality old Walnut.
Pegs are Ebony wood with Bone decoration on both ends.
Also there is a diamond-shape shell on the sound board (bowl).
The exclusivity of this Setar Ketabi is the fact that its bowl has a very unique “Pashnehii” (Heel), which consists of an extra part which is extended to the neck (fret-board). This style was first tried with “Khodaverdi” on Tanbour years ago.
Sound is just amazing for no doubt, very old style and vintage flavour.
